Arms haul in Trincomalee

A special team from Trincomalee police recovered a stock of arms and ammunition on Thursday in Walathottam area, Trincomalee. Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said acting on information provided by LTTE suspects, police unearthed a cache of arms hidden by the LTTE in the Walathottam jungle patch.

Police recovered 13 RPG weapons, two 60mm mortar weapons, two 12.7mm weapons, three 12.7mm barrels, a 82mm mortar bipod, a 40mm grenade launcher, an MG5 weapon, five LMG weapons, five MPMG barrels, a T-81 LMG, an M16 A1 weapon, three sniper guns, 15 T56 assault rifles, four T81 weapons and five gunny bags filled with number of pouches.
