Three arrested

Three LTTE suspects who were gathering information to assassinate the
President were arrested by the Western Province Intelligence Unit.
Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said an LTTE suspect was
arrested on June 15 at the Ayurveda junction, Borella by the police WP
Intelligence Unit.
The suspect was identified as Sivaraja Subakrishnan, a resident of
Trincomalee.
The suspect revealed information of another LTTE suspect involved in
the action.
“Acting on information another suspect was arrested on June 16 night
from the same place where the first suspect was arrested,” he added. The
suspects was identified as Thavarajasingham Subash, a resident of
Batticaloa.
He said obtaining information from Subakrishnan and Subash, the third
suspect was arrested on Wednesday near Vigneshwaran Vidyalayam in
Kurumankerni, Valachchenai.
“The LTTE suspects were gathering information, planning, assisting
and abetting a suicide mission to assassinate the President,” SSP
Gunasekera said.
The three LTTE suspects were detained by the Borella Police under a
Detention Order. |
