Trespass case hearing fixed for July 28

Panadura Magistrate Thusara Rajasinghe fixed the trial into a
trespass case against Kalutara District Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna
Parliamentarian Jayantha Samaraweera Rodrigo and nine other accused for
July 28.
The accused appearing before Court on Monday, June 15 were
Samaraweera Arachchige Jayantha Jayasiri Rodrigo alias Jayantha
Samaraweera, Samara Arachchige Gunadasa Rodrigo, Angage Sonny Perera,
Angage Rasika Pradeep Perera, Angage Sirisena Perera alias Saraneris, M.
Dinusha Prabath Kalhara Perera, H.K. Noel Prabath Chandralal, K.
Ariyawansa Perera, M.M. Rajah and A.J.M. Sumithra Abeykoon.
All accused were charged by Wadduwa Police for entering
Morontuduwawatta at Mawala, Wadduwa owned by Don Karunalatha Thantirige
of Maha Vihara Para, Wadduwa and committed trespass and caused damages
to the trees valued Rs. 50,000 on March 28, 2006 during the General
Election period.
The accused were also charged for damaging a parapet wall and were
charged under Section 140, 146, 433 read with 32 of the Criminal
Procedure Code.
Attorney-at-Law Vajira Kavisinghe with Wadduwa Police appeared for
the prosecution. M.D. Wijayapala and W.D. Karunatilleke attorneys
defended. |
