Jethawana stupa unveiling on June 18

The historic Jethawana Stupa in Mahmevuna Uyana, Anuradhapura Sacred
City conserved and restored by the Central Cultural Fund will be
unveiled by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on June 18.
According to the Mahawamsa, King Mahasena (276-303 BC) is credited
with the construction of Jethawana Stupa which has a diametre of 367
feet at the base.
Though the present height is estimated at 232 feet, the original
height of the Jethawana Stupa was believed to have been 160 cubits.
