Market up
The market rebound with retail investors concentrating on bluechips.
ASPI gained 10 points (+0.4 percent) to close at 2,202, while the MPI
gained 9 points (+0.4%) to close at 2,469. Turnover yesterday was Rs 368
m.
Aitken Spence & Co; saw a massive Rs 64.75 (+11 percent) rise in the
share price to Rs 663.75 as investors chased the blue chip on a turnover
of Rs 31 m. The stock hit an all-time high of Rs 669.00 today. HNB
Assurance was the other sought after company with the share gaining Rs
3.50 (+12 percent) to close at Rs 32.25. High turnover was seen in John
Keells Holdings (turnover Rs 71 m, up Rs 1.00 to close at Rs 113.00),
NDB Bank (turnover of Rs 32 m up Rs 1.25 to close at Rs 119.75), HNB
(turnover Rs30m, up Rs 1.00 to close at Rs 114.00) and Commercial Bank
(turnover Rs26m, up Rs 2.50 to close at Rs 114.00). Source: First
