HSBC ties up with CR & FC
HSBC announced recently that it has become an official sponsor of the
CR & FC rugby team, as part of the Group’s support for rugby worldwide.
Through this sponsorship, HSBC aims to contribute in supporting rugby
in this country, by further enhancing the awareness, importance and the
popularity of the game.
Having provided the assistance to build the HSBC pavilion in 2007,
the new agreement will take HSBC’s partnership with CR & FC a few
notches higher.
The sponsorship is to cover 12 matches during this season including
the Caltex League, Clifford Cup and the President’s Trophy Knock-Out
upto September 2009, where CR & FC team members will be clad in HSBC
branded PowerVantage jerseys.
Nick Nicolaou, CEO HSBC, Sri Lanka-Maldives speaking at a press
conference held in this regard at the CR & FC last Thursday said his
Bank’s commitment to rugby is long-standing and that they were chuffed
to announce the CR & FC team sponsorship.
“We are particularly associating the sponsorship with our proposition
PowerVantage, as we learn that a lot of our PowerVantage customers
follow, and are keen rugby fans”, he told reporters.
Jehan Canagaratna, President of CR & FC commended HSBC on its
commitment and said, “We are fortunate to have in HSBC, a leading bank
in the world, a sponsor of such integrity, strength and long-term
commitment.
“HSBC has been integral to our success, and we are thrilled the Bank
has decided to render its support to the end of this season”. J.K.
