Seruwila sacred area developed

Senior Presidential Advisor and Chairman of the Presidential Task
Force on the Development of Northern Province Basil Rajapaksa MP on
Saturday lauded the services of outgoing Chief Justice Sarath Nanda
Silva for developing the Seruwila Raja Maha Viharaya.
He said the Chief Justice personally intervened in the protection and
development of Seruwila sacred area.

He gave much wanted courage and guidance to the Government to make
every move towards the development of the Seruwila Raja Maha Viharaya a
success, Rajapaksa said.
Senior Presidential Advisor and Parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa was
speaking at the opening of the Shrine room, museum and a pilgrims rest
at the Seruwila Raja Maha Vihara premises costing over Rs 76 million.
Chief Adikarana Sanganayake of North and East and Chief Incumbent of
Seruwila Mangala Raja Maha Viharaya Ven. Seruwila Saranakiththi Thera
and the Mahanayake of Kalyanawansa Maha Nikaya Most Ven. Dodanpahala Sri
Chandrasiri Nanake thera and Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva were present.
The rehabilitated Seruwila Somawathiya road in extent of 54 km was
named after Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva by Senior Presidential Advisor
Basil Rajapaksa.
Basil Rajapaksa MP said the outgoing Chief Justice delivered
important and crucial judgments to promote and protect the country's
unitary state.
He said the Security Forces made tremendous sacrifices for the
protection of territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Motherland.
The Eastern Province development including the development of
Seruwila sacred area was made possible by our Security Forces.
They dedicated their lives to wipe out terrorism from the country, he
said.
He said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa wanted to bring the Eastern
Province under a massive development drive before Northern Province was
liberated from terrorism.
The people in the Eastern province has today seen a massive
development in all fields under the Negenahira Navodaya program which is
the brainchild of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, he said.
Chief Justice Sarath Nanda Silva said Buddhists world over are
indebted to the Chief Incumbent of the Seruwila Mangala Raja Maha
Viharaya Ven. Seruwila Saranakiththi Nayake thera who dedicated himself
to develop this area.
The entire area was abandoned by the people due to terrorism.
The chief prelate of this temple make great efforts in creating an
environment for the people to live in peace and harmony, he said. |
