Integrated medicine and its value
Dr. B.A. Rathnapala
Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva quite correctly expressed his views
in a recent gathering at the Temple Trees with regard to integrated
medicine. He was much intelligent about it as he expressed his views
with agreeable to his heart. He also emphasized that China, India and
Korea are moderate example to his views, as it clearly shows their
improvement and development in the sphere of integrated medicine.
Today time has arrived in Sri Lanka too, to consider to establish a
Sri Lanka Pharamacopia. This has become a necessity in Sri Lanka today.
He was with much realization explained the modern trend of the world.
Being the head of WHO he reminded the politicians as well as medical
practitioners and the government about the direction we should go ahead
with much hope to the development of Sri Lanka economically as well as
in health sector as integrated medicine is the ultimate goal of
medicine.
Sri Lanka is the first in the world who thought of integrated
medicine, which was inaugurated in 1929 named as Swadeshiya Medical
College and at present which is functioning as the Institute of
indigenous medicine under Colombo University.
The Governor of Sri Lanka, Sir Henber Stanley opened the educational
institute of integrated medicine, it was the first step taken forward to
rehabilitate indigenous system with modern scientific knowledge on
medicine under government.
At that time there was no much institutes in the world, not even in
India according to the written history.
But there were some practitioners in Calcutta, India who learned both
schools of these two sciences and practiced this methodology.
So it was Sri Lanka, the first country who established this norm in
an institutional basis.
The Commissioner of Ayurveda recently said in a meeting that she will
not allow the integrated medical practitioners of Sri Lanka to use
modern medicine.
How bad it was! Administrators have no right to go over knowledge
authority for swift economic development, the knowledge authority and
the administrative authority, must go in collaboration with political
authority. Minister of indigenous medicine or the commissioner has no
right whatsoever to impede the progress of integrated medicine.
Minister Nimal Siripalada de Silva correctly put the facts together
before the public.
That is the integrated medical practitioner of Sri Lanka and their
institute is still fighting for freedom, though the country has gained
independence some sixty years ago. He expressed about the knowledge
insurrection, exercise by GMOA and the evil eye rest upon integrated
medical practitioners. His version is the whole truth about what happens
in Sri Lanka.
GMOA and SLMC hide the truth from the public using the words western
and eastern.
Such terms are to used in the Sri Lanka legislative as it is not
possible to use non scientific words in a scientific movement. Drugs
cannot be defined as English drugs or Sinhala drugs.
Those words are used by lay people. Matter cannot be identified as
western or eastern, similarly English or Sinhala.
Matter is identified by the human or animal body as matter, by their
chemical and physical characters. Medical mostly depend on matter,
unless we go in to energy level, on such grounds GMOA and SLMC indulge
in a fraudulent task.
We hope all those who responsible for quick development of Sri Lanka
must go by the words of Health Minister, Integrated Medical
Practitioners are given the opportunity, we assure a success in many
ways.
We can reduce the use of insulin by diabetic patients thereby we can
reduce the occurrence by kidney failure, blood pressure and cholesterol,
that occurs by prolong use of insulin. Many more such achievements are
possible by using integrated system of medicine. We have already
provided it scientifically with data.
Professor Carlo Fonseka and some others, who have close links with
integrated medical practitioners, know the real situation and
capabilities of integrated medicine.
When the whole world is suffering from drug dependant diseases,
integrated medicine can cure most of them.
Thereby if the government extend us the fullest support and
co-operation many foreigners will enable to visit Sri Lanka to take
treatment for their diseases.
We can keep on to the statement given by the Mahinda Chintanaya.
We highly appreciate the explanation made by the Minister of Health
at Temple Trees as the President of the current World Health
Organisation and the Minister In-charge of Health Sector in Sri Lanka
who knows about the importance of integrated medicine.
