When
bonds blow up in smithereens!
Lo and behold, it was Sachi’s birthday!
Being a good sport and celebrating in style his wish was to bring his
closest allies and V3 together at their favourite coffee hangout. Only
Nalaka in the neighbouring department could make it. They were so
engrossed in the merriment that they completely forgot to place the
order until a good natured waiter showed up to get orders from their
‘regular customers’.
“I am going for Hazelnut Frappe,” said Shaz.
“I feel like a Ameretto Tease,” Ruwi added, giving the smiling boy a
teasing look.
“The Hazelnut Hot Chocolate for me,” Sachi piped up.
“And I’ll share Sachi’s. I can’t wait long.” Nalaka finished, more
interested in the guitar handing on a peg at the entrance of the shop.
Order was placed and the subject took a different angle.
“Well. I wonder if it is the right time to bring this up. But I am a
little worried why your people didn’t share my treat,” Sachi questioned
Nalaka.
“I’m
not sure about the facts but why don’t you just talk to them and sort it
out?”
“But will they be willing to do that?”
“There’s no problem trying. Hopefully they will listen to you.”
“Discussion is the best way to untangle your problems. There should
be unity, understanding and sacrifice in a friendship,” Shaz advised.
“Sometimes people interpret your actions differently. After all we
are different individuals and see things in different angles. It is
always good to sort things out before things get worse” Ruwi urged.
“It really hits you when you are let down by a friend more than an
acquaintance,” Sachi noted in a faltering voice. Three pairs of eyes
regarded him, worryingly.
“I know that feeling,” Shaz broke the silence. Picking up her Frappe
Hazelnut she added: “And I also think togetherness is an essential
element when you want the friendship to last.”
“How do you maintain that?” Ruwi pondered.
“That’s the billion dollar question, of course,” Sachi said, checking
the sweetness of the Hazelnut Hot Chocolate. Lucky for him the amount
was just right.
“Everyone should be diplomatic. In a sense you should be
understanding for the sake of friendship.” Shaz expressed.
“That is essential for a relationship too, I think.” said Sachi.
“But suppose we all do something together and someone always tries to
slip away giving some trivial excuse. Sachi, most of the time you come
up with something trivial to avoid our meet-ups. I’m tired of listening
to excuses.” Ruwi burst out suddenly. Sachi was caught off guard.
“I think you have misunderstood me. I like your company, so I don’t
have any reason to avoid you both, unless it is something really
necessary.” he said.
“In such cases, Ruwi, I think we have to let him know our feelings.
If he does so, he must have a reason. We must let him know that we
expect his commitment,” Shaz said.
“Ok, I’ll try to be more cooperative with you in future.” Sachi said
with a sense of pique.
“That is another point. You should accept your faults. If you are
stubborn, bonds can easily be shattered,” Shaz said. Pausing for a
minute she let her eyes roam back to the counter: “Here, I feel hungry.
What do you think, shall we order something?”
“Well, I am not that hungry...” Ruwi trailed off, noting that the
blueberry cheese cake had already been sold out, but Sachi quickly
chipped in with: “I don’t think it’s a bad idea.”
Ruwi returned to the previous topic stating when the two returned:
“We all have problems, but life should still go on.”
Both her mates nodded, busily wolfing down their pick-me-ups: Shaz’s
Hot Dog and Sachi’s Chocolate chip cookies, letting her carry on.
“There are problems that that crop up all of a sudden and the ones
you have to live with. I think when you face the first kind, you can’t
help being disrupted.” Sachi sighed at last, popping the last crumb into
his mouth.
“Even in such cases, we should be positive. Solutions are always out
in the open. The only thing is that we cannot seek them on our own.”
Shaz related.
“Others can’t make you positive. You have to do it at your own will.
Everyone faces problems in life. It is a part of human nature,” Ruwi
chipped in.
“Yes, you get nothing out of being negative.” That was Sachi
concluding the topic with a firm nod.
Squinting at her watch Shaz gasped. It was already past 7 pm. The
trio had been in conversation for nearly three hours! They hastily got
to their feet and made their way back. Rounding the corner Sachi was
stopped by a pat on the back. Startled, he turned around only to see
more colleagues queuing up to deliver birthday wishes.
