the promotion of the region as a tourist destination. The Deputy
Minister of Tourism Faiszer Musthapha appointed well-known entrepreneur
in the leisure industry A. M. Jaufer, as the coordinator for tourism
development in the Eastern Region.
Jaufer counts over 10 years experience in the tourism sector. He is
also a promoter of foreign investments to the region and has already
secured foreign investments for the leisure industry in the East. Jaufer
also received the Brand Excellence award 2006 at the SLIM awards.
With the experience gained through participating in several tourism
trade fairs in Europe and the Middle East he is planning to bring in
more investments and to promote the region as a tourism destination.
He also plans to increase the income of the community in Arugambay,
Nilaweli, Pasikudah and in other potential areas in the Eastern region
by identifying tourism related industries and assisting them to develop
such enterprises. |
