UNP blindly following West - Udith Lokubandara
ASELA KURULUWANSA
W. J. M. Udith Lokubandara, son of Speaker W. J. M. Lokubandara said
he would gladly accept the post of Badulla district SLFP organiser
offered to him by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on his wedding day because
he cannot play any positive role in the UNP which was blindly following
the West in its policies and programs.
He said this when he called on the Malwatte and Asgiriya prelates at
their respective viharayas in Kandy to receive their blessings
yesterday.
Lokubandara said the UNP had never given him an organiser's post. But
when the President gave him the SLFP organiser's post, the UNP was
spreading a false rumour saying that he was already a UNP organiser with
a sinister motive to undermine him. He said the President had offered
this post quite unexpectedly but he hoped to make use of its to provide
a dignified service to the people.
The Malwatte and Asgiriya prelates lauded Lokubandara's decision to
accept the challenge offered to him by the President at a time he was
introducing a program beneficial to the country after eradicating
terrorism and said their blessings were with Lokubandara for the success
of his endeavours.
The Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkhita Mahanayaka Thera of the
Asgiriya Chapter said with the conclusion of the war against terrorism,
a development war has dawned and introduction of youth to the political
stream would be of great assistance towards its success.
