More families resettled

Another group of families were resettled in Konarpannai area in Mannar yesterday. They were chased out of their villages by the LTTE in 1990 giving them 24 hours to quit.

There are 55 families including 155 persons and they were given dry rations for two weeks Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services Ministry officials told the Daily News yesterday.

The Ministry will provide assistance to rebuild their damaged houses and they will be awarded compensation so that they could rebuild their normal lives after living as refugees for 18 years.

Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services Minister Rishard Bathiutheen and the District Secretary Nicholas Pillai and other officials participated on the occasion yesterday.
