Condolences for Minister Dodangoda
Social Services and Social Welfare Minister Douglas Devananda issuing
a message of condolence has stated that the demise of Justice and Law
Reforms Minister Amarasiri Dodangoda is a big loss to the political
leadership of the South.
The Minister in his statement says Minister Dodangoda, was a
charismatic politician who always maintained a cordial and healthy
relationship with the people and rendered a great service to the
wellbeing of the people.
Though he held many Ministerial portfolios, he always made it a point
to be with the people who he represented.
Southern Province Governor
Southern Province Governor Kumari Balasuriya in her message of
condolence on the death of Minister Amarasiri Dodangoda states that his
demise was an irreparable loss to the Province and to the whole country.
"He was an ardent SLFPer who saved the Party at its crucial times,
lawyer by profession he also appeared in law-courts for the sake of the
party".
"In 1993 it was he who, came forward to contest "93 SPC election
against the then UNP regime, and won the Chief Minister post in the
South and thence he was called the "Man who turned the South into left",
Balasuriya said.
