Week-long Pirith chanting for Poson

The week-long Pirith chanting ceremony for Poson commences today
simultaneously to the bringing down of water from Tissawewa in
procession to be placed in the special "Pirith Mandapaya" in Mahamevuna
Uyana.
The officially declared Poson festive week begins from June 4 and
will continue up to June 10.
On the request of the Police and the Poson Steering Committee the
Provincial Education Ministry has consented to reserve 25 schools in
Anuradhapura and Mihintale for accommodation of nearly 7,000 police and
civil security sleuths being detailed for the protection of devotees
flocking in Anuradhapura and Mihintale during Poson celebrations. The
schools being closed from June 4 to June 9 in Anuradhapura are: 1.
Anuradhapura Central College, 2. Swarnapali Girl's National School, (3)
St. Joseph's College, 4. K.B. Ratnayake M.V., 5. Vivekananda Tamil M.V.,
6. Zahira Muslim M.V., 7. Walisinghe Harishchandra M.V., 8. Deepani M.V.,
9. Dewanampiyatissa M.V., 10. Potanegama M.V., 11. Ratmale Tissa M.V.,
12. Aluthwewa Kumara M.V., 13. Nivaththaka Chetiya M.V., 14. Mahinda M.V.,
15. Hataraswela M.V., 16. Kalattewa M.V., 17. Mahabodhi M.V., 18.
