Dengue eradication week in schools

The Education Ministry will hold a school based Dengue Eradication Week from June 8 to 15 to combat the dengue menace.

Accordingly, the Education Ministry has already informed Provincial and Zonal Education authorities to make arrangements to make aware of principals, students and parents regarding the Dengue Eradication Week.

The principals will lead the program with the assistance of students and parents to make sure the school environment is free from the Dengue threat.

Under this program, mosquito breeding places will be identified and steps will be taken to destroy them. In addition to the Dengue prevention activities, the principals are advised to conduct a 'School environment cleaning program' on every Friday from 7.30 a.m. to 8.00 a.m. considering it as a National task, the Education Ministry sources said.
