Pakistani Forces kill over 1,000 militants in operation

PAKISTAN: Pakistani security forces have killed 1,057 militants in the country’s northwest since the major operation was launched late April, the army spokesman said Wednesday.

Major General Athar Abbas said after his briefing that a total of 58 securitymen had also lost lives and 187 others were injured. He told a news conference that 80 miscreants and terrorists were killed during the last 24 hours while the forces cleared Sultanwas, the main stronghold of the terrorists in Buner after intense clashes.

He said that the militants had made underground concrete bunkers and ammunition dumps. He said that six vehicles of militants which were under the use of the terrorists by clad in black uniform were destroyed during the operation, adding that security forces had also defused seven improvised explosive devices during the action.
