Our National Anthem

Now there is a rising Sun in the horizon of Lanka, we should make sure another Prabhakaran and another LTTE is not born again.

On looking back most of us know 1983 riots. I was not in Sri Lanka at that time, and my only information was the documents. I have to agree that the Government at that time was responsible for this and according to the book Broken Palmyrah several then ministers have a direct involvement in it.

Unfortunately these things have gone into record books and cannot be erased.

However we have a future to look forward to... We cannot drown in our own sorrows.

As far as I can see there is no discrimination for the Tamils. The Army which was not disciplined those days are a well disciplined lot thanks to the high command. I lived in Sri Lanka in late 1960s, and I have travelled in Yal Devi in 1969 from Fort to Velwetithurai. I did not see any Prabhakaran then. Oh my Lanka I hope I can enjoy those days again.

I have some thing to add. All nationalities should live like brothers again. I propose to add a verse in Tamil to our National Anthem. DR. SARATH GUNATUNGA, New Zealand
