CMA conference to coincide with ICMA launch
The CMA International Business Management Conference 2009 will
coincide with the launch of the Institute of Certified Management
Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICMA) incorporated by an Act of Parliament No.
23 of 2009.
Accounting history was created after 50 years since the incorporation
of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka in 1959 when
another professional accounting body was incorporated by an Act of
Parliament for the Management Accounting Profession.
This is a proud occasion for Sri Lanka as we now have both
Professional Chartered and Management Accounting bodies similar to
India, Pakistan and Bangladesh and could now play an important role in
the development of the economy in Sri Lanka and providing Management
Accountants to the Public and Private Sectors, a CMA release said.
The theme of the International Conference is 'Managing for Success in
a Downturn'.
Leading speakers from South Asian countries will participate in this
conference.
The management accounting topics as well as the business topics which
are of practical importance to members and non members will be dealt
with.
The topics would cover Performance Management, Strategically Managing
Risks, Corporate Governance and Directors Responsibilities and the
experiences of business leaders in a downturn which will give a mix of
professional and business ideas to be intermingled. The details of each
session are given in the program.
Eminent speakers-local and overseas will address the international
conference.
The keynote address on 'Performance Management in a Downturn' will be
made by Director Post Graduate Institute of Management (PIM) Dr. Uditha
Liyanage and 'Ethical Corporate Governance and Compliance' will be made
by Director General Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka
Channa de Silva.
The other topics are "Strategically Managing Risks for Survival" and
Managing in a Downturn, business perspectives.
