NFF Leader tells Tamil Diaspora:

Become Stakeholders of Sri Lanka

National Freedom Front Leader and Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa yesterday called for the Tamil Diaspora to become stakeholders of the future Sri Lanka where people of all communities are equally treated.

Weerawansa stressed that the Tamil Diaspora should deviate from supporting separatism in Sri Lanka as it will never become a reality as far as patriotic Sri Lankans of all communities live in the country.

"The people of this country have well-understood the repurcusions of the ethnic clashes that erupted in 1983 and that type of a situation will never occur again", he said.

"The Tamil Diaspora launched massive protests in Western countries in support of the LTTE terrorists which killed thousands of innocent people of all communities. Sri Lankan Tamils living in foreign countries should better understand that Sri Lankans will not allow to create Eelam in the country".

The Government led by President Mahinda Rajapaksa has set an example to other countries fighting terrorism. The Government's policies in respect of eradication of terrorism has dealt a serious blow to certain countries which attempted to give an equal status to terrorists. This mission against terrorism would have been abandoned long before, if the country had an Anglo-Saxon leader.

Majority of countries have extended their fullest support to the Government's mission against terrorism and create an environment where people of all communities could live in peace.

China, Russia and Libya have come forward for the rescue of Sri Lanka. The Government sticked to its policy and never gave into pressures exerted by several countries for the rescue of LTTE terrorists.

Weerawansa expressed his gratitude to the President, Defence Secretary, all service personnel including commanders and the people who elected Mahinda Rajapaksa as the President of Sri Lanka.

The people's mandate to continue the Government's mission against the terrorists at several elections gave indomitable strength to the Forces to pursue the path.
