“We are happy to sign an agreement with Browns batteries which are to be sold to the state sector because annually the Government sector purchases more than hundred thousand batteries at a cost of about Rs. 1.5 billion, Chairman, STC Pradeep Gunawardene said.

According to the agreement the State sector can gain a discount of more than 5 percent for one battery as a result of this Government can save more than Rs. 75 millions per year.

“The Government strongly believes that all three sectors, private, state and cooperative, are of equal importance in the national economy.

It was the President’s accurate and far sighted economic policy which strengthened the Sri Lankan economy. Therefore, I greatly appreciate this collaboration between STC and Browns company and it will be benefit to both sectors,” Minister of Trade Marketing Corporate and Consumer Services Bandula Gunewardana said.

CEO/MD, Browns and Company Murali Prakash said that this is the first time ever in the history of Browns that the company has signed an agreement with the state sector after the new management took over.

“The state sector will also have the privilege to enjoy the Battmobile service which is the latest addition to Browns Exide Battmobile fleet.

The Battmobile offers a service in a spark and free of charge to our customers. This service is available firstly within Colombo city limits; thereafter it will be expanded to other key areas,” Prakash said.

Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha and Minister of Mass Media Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana also participated at the event.
