Swimming pool for De Mazenod

De Mazenod College, Kandana, a leading La Sallian Institution in the outskirts of Colombo, will launch one of their biggest projects in their 78 year long history by laying the foundation stone for a swimming pool of international standards on May 15 at Kandana. One of the country's most successful business tycoons Harry Jayawardena, a distinguished old boy of De Mazenod, will lay the foundation stone and unveil a plaque to commemorate the occasion.

The project will cost around Rs. 70 million. A swimming pool has been a long felt need for the Kandana school which has produced many sportsmen. Present day Test cricketers Dilhara Fernando, Dhammika Prasad and the current national football captain Chatura Maduranga to name a few are past pupils of the school.

Old boys are invited to be a part of this project, and anyone who is willing to help to make it a reality should contact the secretary of the OBA Dr. Sunimal Jayakody (Tel. 0777-322577).
