More Tigers killed in battles

Security Forces confronting LTTE resistance to rescue trapped civilians killed score of LTTE cadres including an LTTE leader and recovered arms and ammunition in Karayanmullivaikkal on Wednesday.

Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said troops in newly liberated areas, following battles raged in the Karayanmullivaikkal on Wednesday have found 19 bodies of Tiger cadres including an LTTE senior cadre. "An LTTE leader known as Kannikaran was among the LTTE cadres killed on the Wednesday's fight", he added.

Troops also recovered 21 T56 assault riffles, a 12.7mm weapon, a Multi Purpose Machine Gun, a Light Machine Gun, an FNC weapon, a 12.7mm gun barrel, three claymore mines each weighing 12.5kg, a disposable Rocket Propeller Grenade, an improvised mortar launcher and two I-com radio sets.
