‘Most Respected’ entities in Sri Lanka to be released in August
The business magazine LMD announced recently that it will be
releasing the results of the annual poll of the ‘Most Respected’
entities in Sri Lanka in August.
“The list was extended from 30 to 100 last year, with some movements
in the rankings, plus many new entrants entering the fray, a Media
Services spokesman said.
This year too, we will be ranking 100 companies based on The Nielsen
Company’s poll.
He said the fourth annual compilation of ‘Most Respected’ was a
mirror image of the status quo, with the nation’s leading blue-chip JKH
taking the honours once again.
But its place at the top may now be under some threat this year, in
the wake of last year’s Supreme Court verdict on its Lanka Marine
Services dealings.
Amongst the other corporate heroes in 2008 were Dialog Telekom,
Hayleys, Commercial Bank, MAS Holdings, Ceylinco Group, Unilever, Aitken
Spence, HSBC, Maharaja Group, SLT, Brandix, HNB, Singer and Sampath
Bank.
Last year’s top six have swapped places 2-5 since 2005, when the
rankings were launched, whilst JKH has been the winner throughout, the
spokes person said.
But in 2008, the leading trio held their places from a year ago.
As in the previous year, the 2009 edition will be a standalone issue
carrying interviews with business leaders and leading academics.
“Hopefully, these interviews will shed some light on why certain
companies are admired and provide insights into how these corporates
became success stories,” the spokesman said.
Also slated in for this special issue, are profiles of some of the
nation’s most admired companies and analyses of their performance over
the years. |
