Anti-dengue campaign should be extended - Minister

The anti-dengue campaign has been successfully launched in the Tangalle MoH area. It should be extended to the Hambantota district, said the Minister of Health and Nutrition Nimal Siripala de Silva on Saturday, May 2 at the Tangalle MoH office.

The Minister addressed the health officials and had discussions with them and reviewed the progress of the anti-dengue activities launched in Tangalle DS area during the visit.

The Minister said that even a head of a State or private sector institution could be prosecuted if his or her institution has an environment that breeds dengue mosquitoes.

The schools in the district should be under the supervision of education officers and health officials because cleanliness in schools is essential to eradicate dengue.

The Minister said that the Hambantota General Hospital will be developed to the status that no patients who need advanced treatment is transferred to hospitals in Colombo. Galle or Matara for further treatment.
