The annual Police Bakthi Gee was held at the Bambalapitiya Police
Grounds recently in the presence of a large gathering including present
and past senior and junior police personnel and their family members and
the public.
Chief guest, Inspector General of Police Jayantha Wickremaratne and
Police Seva Vanitha Unit Chairperson Anoma Goonetilleke Wickremaratne,
Army Seva Vanitha Unit Chairperson Anoma Fonseka and other officials of
the Ministry of Defence were received at the entrance to the Police
Grounds by Senior DIG Nimal Mediwaka and Commandant of the Field Force
Headquarters.
The Police Band received the chief guest while the grounds were a sea
of colour. Several lotus flowers made out of bamboos were displayed
outside the Bakthi Geetha platform at the Police Grounds.
Former IGPs Ana Seneviratne, Chandra Fernando and several retired
senior police officers were among the distinguished gathering.
Visharada Swarnalatha Kaviswara, Visharada Sanath Nandasiri,
Visharada Sunil Edirisinghe, Visharada T.M. Jayaratne, P. Sirisena,
Wasantha Kumara Geetharachchi, Priyanthi Jayakody, Manjula Dissanayake,
M. M. Jayasinghe, Nirupa Priyadharshini, Manel Bamunusingha, Ramyasiri
Beddewaththa, Sujith Iranga Fernando of the Police Choral Group
performed to the tune of Police Band led by Band Master Inspector Sumith
Liyanage. Assistant Band Masters Inspector Aruna Mudunkotuwa and Bernard
Augustine also participated during the performance.
The Police Cultural Troupe performed several dancing items directed
by the Police Cultural Troupe Director Assistant Superintendent of
Police Karunarathna Bandara.
IGP Jayantha Wickremaratne thanked the singers, members of the Police
Band and the organisers of the Police Vesak Bakthi Gee 2009 for their
participation.
ASP Priyantha Jayakody was Director Administration of the Police
Band.
Chief Inspector Dhammika Dayananda, OIC Field Force Headquarters,
Chief Inspector L.R. Gamage, Sub Inspector M.L. Nauffer and the other
members of the Police Media Division provided the security.
