NEPAL: Twenty two Nepali political parties decided at an all-party
meeting to form a national government, The Rising Nepal reported on
According to the daily, the meeting was organized Tuesday to sort out
the crisis triggered following the resignation of Prime Minister
Talking to journalists after the meeting, Chairman of the Communist
Party Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist Jhalanath Khanal said that the
meeting decided to form a new national government.
"We decided to prioritize to form national government by holding
talks with the all political parties including the UCPN- Maoist", he
"We should evaluate how the Unified Communist Party of Nepalled
government dissolved in nine months and chalk out the future plan,
He stressed on the formation of working procedures and code of
conduct for the new government.
"There is the need of a capable government to draft a new
constitution in time and take the ongoing peace process to a logical
end," he said.
Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel said that the
meeting stressed on early formation of national government by ending the
current vacuum created following the resignation of the Prime Minister.
He added that the next government would be formed within the deadline
given by the President.
Nepali President Ram Baran Yadav has urged the political parties to
form a new government by Saturday.
