NAM: Solidarity against unilateral sanctions
Cuba: Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Abelardo Moreno announced on
Tuesday that the Movement of Non Aligned Countries (NAM) will be in
solidarity with nations that have been unilaterally sanctioned,
subjected to embargos or hit by natural disasters.
During a briefing for journalists in the second day of the NAM
ministerial meeting, Moreno said that the paragraph approved by high
ranking representatives is very important from the conceptual point of
view.
He said three paragraphs demanding the elimination of unilateral
sanctions against Zimbabwe have been given green light.
Moreno added that there was significant progress in closed-door
discussions among experts and a paragraph condemning the arrest warrant
issued by the International Criminal Court against Sudanese President
Omar Al Bashir has already been approved.
I wouldn’t dare to say that the two commissions will complete their
work today, but there has been significant progress in discussions, he
said while noting that representatives of 135 countries and five
organizations are in Havana, including 111 members of the Movement
created in Belgrade in 1961, 14 observers and 10 countries invited to
this meeting, the last under the Cuban presidency. Havana, Prensa
