LTTE orders civilians to burn boats

LTTE cadres trapped inside the remaining part of the No Fire Zone have ordered people to burn all fishing boats in Vellamullivaikkal to prevent the remaining civilians trapped inside the No Fire Zone fleeing the area, Military Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said yesterday.

The spokesman said the LTTE had taken this decision as civilians trapped inside the No Fire Zone are trying to flee the area in boats.

While preventing civilians from fleeing the No Fire Zone, LTTE leaders are preparing to flee the area at the last moment arranging six high powered boats and five boats with a stock of ration packets for their consumption.
