May Day rally

The Sri Lanka Janaraja Health Services Union will hold its May Day rally at the Centre for Society and Religion Colombo on May 1 at 10 a.m. Union President W.A.D. Wimalaratne will preside.

Participants will include Vasudeva Nanayakkara, President, Eksath Lanka Estate Workers Union, Linus Jayatilleke, President United Federation of Labour, M.R. Sha President, CBEU, Gerard Gamage General Secretary Government Sector United Federation of Labour, Dudley Kalansuriya, Chief Organiser, Corporation Co-operatives and Mercantile Employees Union and M.D.R. Athula, President, Government Printers Union.


AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the Old Boy's Association (Colombo branch) of the J/Velayutham Maha Vidyalayam, Point Pedro will be held on Sunday, May 3 at the Ramakrishna Mission Lecture Hall, Colombo 06. Commencing at 5 pm.


BASL appeals

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka calls upon its members to kindly assist its endeavour to provide relief aid to Internally displaced Persons.

The BASL secretariat will collect bottled water, medicine, dry foods, milk powder, toiletries, clothes (new) towels / bed linen or cash donations from May 2 to May 9 during office hours.


Felicitation ceremony

A ceremony to felicitate H.S.K. Wijetilleke, former Principal of Rajasinghe Central National School Hanwella organised by the school's OBA will be held at the Hanwella Rest House on May 2 at 5 p.m. Members of the OBA wishing to participate should contact Jayantha on mobile 0777 385566.


Seminar

The Sri Lanka Institute of Printing (SLIOP) will hold a free seminar on courses and career development in the Printing, Graphic and Digital Media Industry. The seminar will be conducted on Saturday, May 2 from 9 am to 1 p.m. at the Institute. Prayers

The program will commence on Sunday, May 3 with Rathibathul Jalaliya by Moulavi A.B.M. Mubarak (falahi) and Y.M. Rafi. It will be conducted after Magrib prayers and it will continue till Isha prayers. A religious lecture will also be conducted.


Arts Day

‘Samagree’ Arts Day organised by the Arts Circle of Sri Dharmaloka Vidyalaya Kelaniya will be held on April 30 at 9.00 a.m. at the College Hall.

It will be presided over by veteran media personality Edwin Ariyadasa.

Events including recital of poems and dubbing contests under the guidance of Principal A.G. Nimal Jayaweera together with Japanese and Hindi language features will also be featured at the ceremony.


 Musical show

A musical show organised by the Liyanagemulla United Youth Club will be held on May 1 at the Youth Club premises near Suvisuddharama Viharaya, Liyanagemulla.


Badur Mowlood

The recital of Badur Mawlood will be conducted by Al Haj Moulavi M.T. Hillurudeen (Falahi) and Al Haj Moulavi A.B.M. Mubarak (Falahi) from April 30 after Magrib prayers and will continue until Isha prayers at the Nawla Jumma Mosque.
