Courtesy call on Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamed

High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in Malaysia Dr. D.D. Ranasinghe called on former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamed, at his office recently.

During the meeting, the High Commissioner briefed Dr. Mahathir on the current developments in Sri Lanka and indicated that a lasting solution to the prolonged conflict could be seen in the very near future.

He also appreciated the support of the Malaysian Government for Sri Lanka in the process. Dr. Mahathir while conveying his understanding of the current developments in Sri Lanka, expressed the hope that the situation in Sri Lanka will become normal and the political stability could be achieved soon. He also indicated the immediate need on focusing on economic development of the country.

The High Commissioner on behalf of the Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council, extended an invitation to Dr. Mahathir to visit Sri Lanka to participate in the First International Business Forum as the keynote speaker and chief guest at the Annual Business Awards Ceremony, organized by the Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council on August 10 and 11. Minister (Commercial) of the High Commission D.W. Jinadasa was also present.
