NAM to talk Palestine Independence

CUBA: The right of the Palestinian people to build an independent state will be demanded during the ministerial meeting of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) to be held in Cuba next week.

Diplomatic sources revealed that the Coordination Bureau will release a special declaration of solidarity with Palestine, victim of recurrent aggressions by Israel.

Cuban vice foreign minister Abelardo Moreno informed of the NAM resolution presented in the United Nations to condemn Israeli bombing of Gaza last year.

The essence of decolonization and independence that typifies NAM since its foundation in 1961 justifies its traditional defense of the right of Palestine to sovereignty.

This demand was appreciated here last February by Riad Malki, minister of Foreign Affairs of the Palestine National Authority who also demanded the closing of Jewish settlements.

Malki assessed the support of the Movement in the search for strategies to implement the creation of a Palestinian State with eastern Jerusalem as its capital among other actions to promote cooperation. He also called for compliance of the many UN resolutions to terminate the violent occupation of Palestinian territory by Jewish settlers.

NAM has a Committee on the Inalienable Rights of the Palestine Peoples that internationally promotes an end to the illegal occupation by Israel of all Arab territories invaded in 1967.

The ministerial meeting in Havana will serve to prepare the 15th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the organization that will be held in the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh from July 11 to 16. Havana, Apr 25 (Prensa Latina)
