Colombo team A wins Asela Nalin Jayatilleke Trophy for second successive year

Colombo team ‘A’ came out with flying colours displaying their talent to bag the Asela Nalin Jayatilleke trophy as Champions for the second successive year, beating the Colombo Team ‘B’ in final at the All Island Deaf Six-a-side Softball Cricket Tournament at the Shalika grounds, Narahenpita recently. It was organized by the Sri Lanka Deaf Cricket Association under the patronage of former sports star Shivantha Vivekanandan who is the President, Sri Lanka Deaf Cricket Association.

Colombo Team B also bagged the Asela Nalin Jayatilleke Trophy as the Runners-up. Sanjeewa from Colombo Team ‘A’ was awarded the man of the series and the Best bowler trophies while the skipper of the Colombo team ‘A’ was awarded the Best Batsman Trophy. Sarath Kumara, President, Sri Lanka Central Federation of the Deaf, gave away the awards.

Quarter-finals

Colombo Team ‘D’ beat Hambantota Team ‘A’. Colombo Team ‘D’ - 64 for 1 wicket in 5 overs.

Hambantota Team ‘A’ - 46 for 2 wickets in 5 overs.

Colombo Team C beat youth Team B.

Youth Team ‘B’ - 53 for

3 wickets in 5 overs.

Colombo Team ‘C’ - 54 for 1 wicket in 4.6 overs.

Colombo Team ‘D’ beat Matara Team A.

Colombo Team ‘D’ - 42 all out in 4.5 overs

Matara Team ‘A’ - 40 for no wicket in 5 overs.

Colombo Team ‘A’ beat Thihariya Team ‘A’.

Colombo Team, A - 61 for 3 wickets in 5 overs.

Thihariya Team A - 31 for 3 wickets in 5 overs.

Semi-finals

Colombo Team ‘B’ beat Colombo Team C

Colombo Team ‘C’ - 41 runs for 4 wickets in 5 overs.

Colombo Team ‘B’ - 42 runs for 1 wicket in 3.2 overs.

Colombo Team ‘A’ beat Colombo Team ‘D’.

Colombo Team ‘D’ - 35 for 3 wickets in 5 overs.

Colombo Team ‘A’ - 39 for 4 wickets in 5 overs.

Final

It was decided to bowl 3 overs in the final before heavy rain washed out play.
