Australia beat Swiss 3-1 in Fed Cup playoff

Australia defeated Switzerland 3-1 here Sunday to advance to the 2010 Fed Cup World Group II.

Australia, leading the Swiss 2-0 after the opening day singles, clinched the playoff tie when Samantha Stosur downed 19-year-old Stefanie Voegele, 7-6 (7/2), 5-7, 6-3. Fifteen-year-old Mateja Kraljevic won Switzerland's only rubber of the tie when she defeated Jessica Moore 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.
