To visit IDP camps in Vavuniya:

British Minister here today

British Minister for International Development Mike Foster is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka today to assess the humanitarian situation in Sri Lanka on the invitation of Government of Sri Lanka.

He will visit the IDP camps in the Vavuniya district to have first hand information of the ground situation in the area. Resettlement and Relief Services Minister Rishad Badiudeen will accompany the British Minister.

During his stay, the British Minister will meet top government officials and political leaders including Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama and discuss how civilians who fled from the clutches of terrorists could be assisted.

According to Foreign Ministry sources, the Foreign Minister will meet UN Humanitarian Affairs Chief John Holmes today.

Indian High Commissioner Alok Prasad will also visit the mobile hospital established by India at Pulmudai tomorrow and assess the situation there, Foreign Ministry sources said.
