Peru for Cuba-USA dialogue

Peru: Peruvian Foreign Minister Jose Garcia Belaunde said that a space for unconditional dialogue has been created between Cuba and the United States.

Garcia made his remarks in reply to a question about an eventual new attitude presented by US President Barack Obama in the recent Summit of the Americas. He added that Latin American countries presented to Obama the need to end the US blockade against Cuba. "Now things are pending as the process of dialogue develops," he said.

In an editorial Monday, La Primera daily says that taking into account his remarks at the Summit of the Americas, Obama seems to be determined to bury the arrogance and disdain of the Bush era towards Latin America, though this has yet to be translated into actions.
