Venezuelan women in solidarity with Cuba
Venezuela: Vene-zuelan women expressed their solidarity with the
Cuban government and people, on Wednesday, by demanding the end of the
US blockade and the release of The Five anti-terrorist Cuban fighters
unfairly held in US prisons.
In a press conference with local and foreign media, Minister of
Women's Affairs Maria Leon said that one of the worst injustices in our
America is the blockade imposed on Cuba by Washington for over 50 years.
"That's enough with damage done to our brothers and sisters on the
Island" by denying them the right to trade, to import medicine and
access to all sorts of goods and denying them the right to have
relations with all countries worldwide, said Leon.
And still, this Caribbean Island sends its children wherever doctors
and teachers are needed, she stressed.
Leon said the Venezuelan people have always received gestures of
solidarity from the Cuban people, and recalled the hundreds of
Venezuelans who have traveled to be treated in Cuban hospitals.
She also recalled that last year they launched a campaign in
Venezuela for the release of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, Fernando
Gonzalez, Rene Gonzalez and Antonio Guerrero, The Five anti-terrorist
Cuban fighters held in US prisons. Caracas, Prensa Latina |
