Kelani Ganga Right Bank Water Project:

North Colombo residents to benefit

The construction activities of the Kelani Ganga right- bank water supply project that will cost Rs. 8,100 million will be launched on April 19, Water Supply Minister Mahinda Amaraweera told the Daily News yesterday.

More than 200,000 families in the North of Colombo will be benefited from the project which will be funded by both the DANIDA and Government funds, Minister Amaraweera added. Accordingly, people in the North of Colombo, including Ragama , Kadawata, Ganemulla , Gampaha would benefit by the project.

Amaraweera said that the public who faced difficulties in receiving drinking water supply due to present low pressure situation in the city limit of Colombo will ease from the project.

The project is scheduled to be commissioned by mid 2010.
