Special team to probe assault on child

A special police team has been deployed to inquire into an incident where three policemen attached to the Seeduwa police station who were involved in assaulting a 12-year boy while he was on his way home.

According to reports the three policemen allegedly under the influence of liquor had asked the child to remove his clothes and assaulted him. When the child's parents came to rescue the child, the policemen had abused the parents in foul language.

The child was admitted to hospital for treatment.
