e-Local Government project launched

Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) and the Ministry of Local Government signed an MoU to implement the "e-Local Government Project" at the Ministry of Local Government recently.

The main objective of the project is to mark service by the local government authorities more people friendly.

The MoU was signed between ICTA Chief Operating Officer Reshan Dewapura and Ministry of Local Government and Provincial Council Ministry Secretary Cashian Herath .

The project focuses on Negombo Muncipal Council, Kesbewa Urban Council,Awissawella Urban Council and Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha as pilot sites.

Improving the services of the local bodies including primary health care, public welfare, utility services and community development is another aim of the project.
