Over Rs. 9.2 million for Kandy road development
Over Rs. 9.2 million which were allocated by the Youth Empowerment
and Socio-economic Development Ministry under the patronage of Youth
Empowerment and Socio-economic Development Minister and the General
Secretary of Ceylon Workers Congress Arumugan Thondaman to develop road
facilities and electricity in the Kandy district have been completed
through Madadumbara Pradeshiya Sabha.
The Minister intervened to contribute immensely for the welfare of
the Plantation Community and urged his officials to implement the needs
of the resident who faced hardships due to the lack of roads and
electricity in the Plantation area. The under privileged communities of
the estate sectors have immensely benefited by the development project
implemente by the Minister who is making a great effort to enhance the
living conditions of the plantation community.

CMC Municipal Commissioner Bhadrani Jayewardene has invited public
for their proposals to minimise expenditure for the disposal of garbage
within the Colombo city limit.
Commissioner Jayawardane said that there are 7,000,000 people living
within the city limits of Colombo and a further 600,000 in transit.
Jayewardene added that the CMC spends Rs.1500 million annually for
the disposal of garbage from the homes of 1,300,000 people.

Water distribution project

A rural government water distribution project is being carried out
for the benefit of the public in the villages Eeriyagasthenna and
Ramachandra colony, in the Patha Dumbara electorate of the Kandy
district.
Around 410 families of the aforesaid villages will benefit from this
project.
It is implemented by the officials at the second community-based
rural water supply project for the Central Province - a government
infrastructure development initiative, funded by ADB.
Kidney patient seeks help
A.H.F. Lameera (41) of 35/7, Jayanthi Mawatha, Mirihana, Kotte is
having diabetic nephropathy and now in end stage renal failure. Thrice
weekly haemodialysis (acitate) costs her about Rs. 33,000 per month and
the estimated cost of a kidney transplant is Rs. 300,000. Consultant
Nephrologist of Sri Jayawardhanapura Hospital, Dr. C.A. Herath,
recommends that she should undergo a Kidney transplant. She appeals to
