Prof Colvin heads:
Human Life Respecting Association

World's first Human Life Respecting Association was formed in Sri
Lanka on Tuesday April 7 in Colombo, by a few medical professionals, at
an informal meeting at Wijerama House in Colombo.
Prof Colvin Gooneratna, Professor emeritus physiology of the Colombo
University and head of the Daily News medical page Healthwatch was
chosen to Chair and lead this new association, Centenarian Respecting
Family Welfare Association of Sri Lanka and the World (CRFWASLW). while
thanking the group who elected him to head this organization he said, "I
wish to credit the media in Sri Lanka for giving the idea of starting
the centenarian study, which finally led to the formation of this world
body today in Sri Lanka.
Particularly Daily News and its senior journalist Arambewela who is
compiling its medical page Healthwatch, as he is the key person who
moved me into the study and forming this association, thus putting Sri
Lanka on top of the world in this human life respecting and peace
promoting project who will from now on be the project's secretary.
He also thanked Dr. Dennis J. Aloysius also an ex-president of the
SLMA who also participated in the centenarian study. He has consented to
serve the new association as its president elect.
Among others who have been chosen to serve in the Association's
committee are Dr. Githanjana Mendis Vice President, Mihiri
Wickremarchchi Treasurer, Ramaya Weerakoon, Dr. Viraj Peramuna, Thushari
Weerakoon. Several others too will be serving the committee.
Prof. Colvin said an official release from this newly formed
association wouldshortly be released to the press with all details.
The Constitution of the Association was also adopted at this meeting. |
