Fisherman killed

A fisherman was allegedly assaulted and killed at Rugam resettled village in the Batticaloa district.

The victim has been identified as Seeni Mohamed Ussanan, a 49-year-old father of ten.

It is learnt that the victim had been displaced from his own land twenty- five years ago due to terrorist violence and lived in the welfare centre in Medagama.

Since Muslims were resettled at the Rugam village recently, he too resettled there with his family.

He had reportedly gone fishing three days ago and went missing.

The public with the help of the Security Forces searched and found his remains on Wednesday at Manchayadicholai, the Eravur police said.
