Hijacking:
Man granted bail

Colombo High Court Judge Sunil Rajapakse granted bail to a person
involved in hijacking a Montero jeep worth Rs 10.5 million at Malabe on
April 30, 2006.
The Court granted Rs. 150,000 cash bail and two Rs. one million
surety bails to Chaminda Ruwan Pathirana who was indicted for hijacking
the Montero jeep owned by G.K.D. Prasad Suren.
The Attorney General filed indictment against Chaminda Ruwan
Pathirana, N. Asanka Botheju and Nisantha Chandrasiri for hijacking the
jeep and robbery with others unknown to the prosecution.
According to the evidence, the crime was committed by four persons
with three revolvers and a T-56 weapon. The hearing was put off for May
5.
