Village youth to be trained:

Agricultural villages islandwide

The Agricultural Development and Agrarian Services Ministry will establish agricultural villages in all parts of the country.

These Agricultural Villages are aimed at providing a practical knowledge of indigenous agriculture to the youth and they will be selected for training courses annually.

Those who excel in these courses will be given further encouragement to pursue their career in advanced agricultural activities.

The first model village based on these concepts will be set up in the Western Province.

Agricultural Development and Agrarian Services Minister Sirisena commenting on this said this concept once implemented will be a great boon to the local agricultural development.
