Aranayaka in dire straits

A severe water scarcity in the wake of the drought running for months has affected adversely on the functioning of the Aranayaka district hospital, driving the warded patients and the hospital staff to a dilemma.

The water springs at Ambalakanda supplying water to the Aranayaka pipe borne drinking water scheme have virtually dried up during the past few weeks.

The Aranayaka Police Station, Divisional Secretariat and the Pradeshiya Sabha too are facing difficulties due to water scarcity.
