Authorities must monitor pre-schools - Educationist

Pre-schools are mushrooming in every nook and corner in the country. It is the duty of the educational authorities to bring them under proper supervision, said Retired President of Giragama Training College and lecturer in Pre-Education Sooriakumara Hitihamu.

He was delivering a lecture at the Welfare Society of Aruppola Housing Scheme. He said Sri Lanka has a special Department for early childhood education under a team of highly qualified educationists who possess academic skills and experience in this field.

He requested the Provincial Councils to appoint a competent body of educationists for supervising and drawing up a work program for these schools and also to have them registered at the respective Local Councils.
