Sri Lanka has a well expanded public service compared to its
population and the Government is determined to produce an efficient
group of public servants in this context, Public Administration and Home
Affairs Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama said.
Dr. Amunugama made these remarks at the inauguration of a training
program for 134 new recruits of the Administrative Service at the Sri
Lanka Institute of Development Administration, Colombo recently.
Combined services should be run under one system and the information
technology service too will be absorbed into this service, Dr. Amunugama
said. It is also necessary to develop the knowledge of languages.
By learning new technology, the Government employees should fit into
the developing world and discharge their duties to the people he said.
