One dead, 15 injured in bus crash

One person died on the spot and 15 others were injured when a bus plying from Colombo to Lunugala and another bus collided at Thimbirigasyaya colour light yesterday, Bambalapitiya police told the Daily News.

According to Colombo National Hospital Director Dr. Hector Weerasinghe 15 passengers who were injured have been admitted to Hospital and two of them who were critical underwent emergency surgery. The rest were out of danger, the Director added.

The deceased was the driver of the private bus.

A jeep which was moving from Thimbirigasyaya to Galle Road was also involved in the accident.
