Chief Government Whip and Urban Development and Sacred Area
Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardena yesterday expressed regret and
the Government's displeasure over the conduct of TNA MPs who were
engaging in activities inimical to the country as well as the
constitution.
They were engaging in these acts after obtaining three month leave
from Parliament. The Minister made these remarks when TNA MP Solomon
Cyril moved a motion to obtain three months leave for his party member
and Jaffna District MP M.K. Sivajilingam. "We are not opposing if any MP
wants to take leave entitled to them. But they should not make use of
this privilege to engage in anti national rallies and to work against
the constitution," The Minister added.
"It is a misdeed that our members make use of this privilege to
indulge in harmful activities to the country," he said.
