WPC polls: Nominations begin today

Receiving of nominations for the Western Provincial Council elections, which begins today would end by 12 noon on February 26 (Thursday), according to the Department of Elections.

The deadline for accepting postal voter applications has been extended until February 26.

According to authorities the nominations lists should include 46, 42 and 23 nominees respectively to Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts.

Out of this Colombo is slated to appoint 43 members to the Council with 39 and 20 coming from Gampaha and Kalutara.
